Massage
   
Massage is, perhaps, one of the oldest of all health treatments. For thousands of years some form of massage, or the laying on of hands, has been used to heal and soothe the sick. To the ancient Greek and Roman physicians, massage was one of the principal means of healing and relieving pain.  
   
A good massage has effects on all levels of your being. Physically, its benefits include:-  
Relaxing and toning muscles
Reducing body tension
Aiding relaxation
Increasing haemoglobin levels
Assisting elimination of body toxins
Encouraging lymphatic flow
Promoting good quality sleep
Stretching connective tissue
Strengthening and boosting the immune system
 
  On a mental level, massage relieves stress and anxiety, and helps you become more aware of your body as a whole - both the parts you are in touch with and those that feel cut off.  
     
  The emotional aspects of massage are extremely important, and the release of tension can be transforming in terms of posture and facial expression.  
     
  Regular massage is, therefore, an excellent strategy for the promotion and maintenance of wellness.  
     
  The body has the ability to heal itself following illness, injury, stress or disease, and when it is in a state of imbalance and vital pathways are blocked. All these factors can prevent the body from functioning effectively.
